The Hope of Nature September 2025

The Hope of Nature

I sit by the swimming pool waiting for my family to arrive for our Labor Day together. Ordinarily, I would be in church, but today “church” is here in this garden. The beauty of this day speaks of nature in all its glory as it trumpets hope. The acorns are falling to the ground —there are many this year—food for the squirrels as they stash them away for winter. They are also food for the wild turkeys as they swallow them whole to be ground in their gizzards to nourish their bodies for the winter ahead. Nature provides.

Goldenrod blooms near the fence, alongside hydrangeas and coneflowers,

signaling that fall is approaching as the summer flowers begin to fade.

Recently, I sat with a cup of tea, watching a Swallowtail on Egyptian Star Gazers.

She floated from flower to flower, unaware of my heart being mesmerized by her beauty.

Today, the bees are busy pollinating.

I watch them busy with their work.

Ah, nature, a reminder that life continues to nurture itself and find ways to share its wealth. We humans could learn a thing or two.

Nature’s hope reassures me.
