About my writing….
I finished a rough draft of my book, My Pride is Dust: The Loss of a Son, in late March. My reader, Elizabeth, gave me helpful feedback and suggestions for the revision. At the end of our session, she suggested I let it go for a while.
I wondered, “Will I ever get this book into the world?” At the same time, I felt relief at letting it go for a bit.
“Write some other things,” she told me.
I began another book about my music ministry at the Chicago Temple before I was ordained. In the meantime, my daughter Catherine gave me a subscription to StoryWorth, and I am writing stories about my life with the weekly prompts.
I have my Writing Workshop and Rebel Writers every other week. A weekly gathering of writers and a monthly session on Writing Memoir allow me to be with other writers and practice new skills. In the fall, I began the revision of my memoir. As the year ended, I started a journey with A Writing Workshop with Anne Lamott et al. All these writing opportunities allow me to learn, practice, and share my writing. Revision is not easy and needs the input of other caring people. I am grateful.
